Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP is seeking a Marketing & Business Development Assistant to join our growing Marketing & Business Development team. This entry-level role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in legal marketing and business development while supporting high-impact initiatives across practice areas and industry teams.
The Assistant will work closely with business development managers, coordinators, and attorneys to help execute marketing campaigns, maintain BD materials, and support client engagement efforts. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented, proactive professional who is eager to learn, thrives in a collaborative environment, and takes pride in producing polished, professional work.

Key Responsibilities:
Marketing & BD Team Support
- Assist with the preparation and distribution of client briefings, newsletters, and thought leadership materials.
- Help maintain marketing collateral, including attorney bios, practice descriptions, brochures, and PowerPoint decks.
- Support the development of capability statements and proposal materials under the guidance of BD managers and coordinators.
Research
- Conduct basic client, industry, and competitor research to support BD initiatives.
- Help compile experience lists and matter summaries for pitches, directories, and internal databases.
Event & Campaign Coordination
- Provide logistical support for webinars, conferences, sponsorships, and client-facing events.
- Assist with internal event planning and coordination across departments.
Systems & Admin Support
- Help maintain CRM contact lists and assist with email campaign distribution.
- Support the upkeep of BD tracking tools, directories, and experience databases.
- Assist with website and intranet content updates as needed.
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with BD managers and coordinators to support cross-functional projects and firmwide initiatives.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas to improve efficiency and impact.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; relevant coursework or internships in marketing, communications, or business a plus.
- 1–2 years of experience in a law firm or professional services environment preferred.
- Strong writing, editing, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with CRM platforms (e.g., InterAction) a plus.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Discretion in handling confidential information.
- Must be independently and legally authorized to work in the United States.
