Position Overview

Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP is seeking a dynamic, results-driven IT Project Manager to join our PMO and technology organization. This role is ideal for a seasoned project manager who thrives in a fast‑paced, professional services environment and excels at translating business needs into effective technology solutions.
The Project Manager will lead cross‑functional initiatives spanning business applications, infrastructure, security, and operational technology. The role partners closely with attorneys, business leaders, IT teams, and external vendors to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with firm strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Project & Program Delivery
  • Lead multiple concurrent IT and business-facing projects from initiation through closure, ensuring alignment with firm priorities and PMO standards.
  • Develop and maintain project charters, work plans, schedules, budgets, risk logs, and status reporting.
  • Manage dependencies, risks, and issues while proactively driving mitigation strategies.
Stakeholder & Attorney Collaboration
  • Partner with attorneys, practice groups, and administrative leaders to understand business objectives and translate them into actionable project requirements.
  • Facilitate requirements gathering, process mapping, workflow analysis, and solution design discussions.
  • Communicate clearly and confidently with stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership.
Technology & Process Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflows and operational efficiency through technology-enabled solutions.
  • Support both Agile and Waterfall SDLC methodologies, adapting approach based on project needs.
  • Coordinate testing, training, and deployment activities to ensure successful adoption.
Vendor & Resource Management
  • Manage relationships with software vendors, consultants, and implementation partners.
  • Monitor vendor performance, deliverables, and contractual obligations.
  • Stay current on legal technology trends and emerging tools relevant to law firm operations.
Governance & Change Management
  • Ensure projects adhere to PMO governance, documentation, and reporting standards.
  • Support organizational change management by aligning communication, training, and adoption strategies.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5+ years of IT or technology-focused project management experience, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Demonstrated success managing complex, cross-functional initiatives.
  • Strong working knowledge of Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools, Microsoft Project, Planner, or comparable project management platforms.
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in a large or mid-sized law firm.
  • Background as a Business Analyst or hybrid BA/PM role.
  • PMP, Agile, or other formal project management certification.
  • Experience working with enterprise legal applications (e.g., document management, practice management, finance, HR, security systems).
