Replevin/Creditors’ Rights Paralegal

Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP, a national law firm, currently has an exciting full-time employment opportunity for a Replevin Paralegal who will support multiple Hinshaw offices.  We offer competitive compensation and an excellent benefits package. 

Position Summary: 

Our growing Consumer Financial Services team is seeking a detailed-oriented Replevin Paralegal to support their creditors’ rights practice.  The paralegal supporting this team will assist attorneys with the management of the full lifecycle of replevin actions in multiple jurisdictions.  

Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Continual review and management of a high-volume caseload, ensuring compliance with state-specific, strict statutory timelines.
  • Prepare Verified Complaints for Replevin.
  • Draft Motions for Prejudgment Writs of Replevin and Affidavits of Value.
  • Coordinate with bailiffs/sheriffs for the service of writs and seizure of collateral.
  • Draft Default Judgments and Orders of Replevin.
  • Continual communication with clients, debtor counsel and court personnel.
  • Monitor deadlines for responses and timeliness.
  • Investigate facts as requested by attorneys.
  • Capture and record billable time in compliance with firm policies and client guidelines.
Qualifications and Prior Experience: 
  • A minimum of two years of experience in high-volume litigation, collections or creditor rights.  
  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of court procedures for filing, hearing preparation and civil process.
  • Computer Skills: Must have working knowledge of internet and proficiency with: Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat Pro, LexisNexis, Pacer, and iManage.
  • Written Communication: Writes clearly and informatively; edits work for spelling and grammar; varies writing style to meet needs; able to read and interpret written information.
  • Oral Communication: Listens and obtains clarification when necessary; responds well to questions.
  • Problem Solving: Identifies and resolves problems sin a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully.
  • Quality: Demonstrates strong organizational skills, attention to detail, accuracy and thoroughness; looks for ways to improve and promote quality.
