Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP, a national law firm, currently has an exciting full-time employment opportunity for a Real Estate Paralegal in our Coral Gables and Fort Lauderdale offices. We offer competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package.

Position Summary:

Our Coral Gables and Fort Lauderdale offices are seeking a Real Estate Paralegal who will perform a variety of duties such as, file management in real estate and commercial matters, timely submission of documents, document management in wide variety of real estate transactions, routine and complex, prepare and update closing checklists, prepare and review closing documents and escrow instructions; and coordinate closings.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Order and review tract searches, ownership searches, judgment searches, judgment and tax lien searches, and UCC searches.
  • Order and review title commitments, surveys and other underlying title documents, policies and endorsements thereto.
  • Order duplicate tax bills and estimates of redemption; order entity documents such as Certificates of Good Standing, Articles of Formation and certified copies of recorded documents.
  • Prepare/answer title objection letters. Negotiate with title companies and other parties regarding title clearance matters.
  • Prepare and review/analyze mortgages, assignments of mortgage, and related financing documents.
  • Prepare and analyze loan documents and related due diligence materials.
  • Review zoning applications and related due diligence matters.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Candidates must have a college degree and/or Paralegal certificate, with work experience as a paralegal.
  • One to five years of experience as a commercial/transactional real estate paralegal in a law firm environment, performing the noted job duties.
  • Must have the ability to read and understand legal descriptions, title reports, leases, loan documents, purchase agreements and other contracts. Familiarity with title company forms, escrow instructions, preliminary title searches, easement descriptions, liens and recorded judgments, policies of title insurance and endorsements, trust deeds and grant deeds.
  • Must be familiar with balancing escrow disbursements.
  • Knowledge of DoubleTime or Landtech settlement system is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required to interact with staff, attorneys, opposing counsel, lenders, title companies, government agencies, and clients on a daily basis.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail required to handle large volumes of work associated with each case and transaction. Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
