Job Summary

Under the general supervision and direction of the Director of Attorney Recruitment & Development, the Attorney Recruitment & Development Coordinator is for responsible working with the Director in all aspects of the firm's attorney recruiting and development functions, including lateral associate and Summer Associate hiring, coordinating the annual Summer Associate program, assisting on attorney new hire orientations, administering firm training programs, and coordinating firm CLE function, including monthly programming. The Attorney Recruitment & Development Coordinator is expected to perform all responsibilities with a commitment to providing superior service to the firm’s attorneys, advisors and staff, and maintaining an atmosphere of teamwork and continuous improvement. Above all, the Attorney Recruitment & Development Coordinator must fulfill the needs of the firm in a manner which is consistent with the Firm’s Core Values.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Support the Attorney Recruitment & Development Department with the coordination and execution of summer associate and lateral associate hiring, including position posting, applicant tracking, resume review, interview scheduling, conflicts and background checks, confirmation of offer, and new hire orientation and training.

  • Communicate with summer associate and lateral associate applicants through process, including scheduling follow-up meetings and responding to candidate questions.
  • Coordinate summer associate program implementation, including developing program materials, supporting work assignment program, overseeing evaluation process, and planning social events.
  • Support the Attorney Recruitment & Development Department with the coordination and execution of major Hinshaw University programming, including firm wide Basic Skills and Trial Advocacy programs.
  • Support the Attorney Recruitment & Development Department with the coordination and execution of regular Hinshaw University programming, including ensuring compliance with MCLE requirements, emailing and tracking invitations to programs, attending programs in the Chicago office to monitor attendance and collect evaluations, handling submission of CLE program to MCLE boards for approval, and updating related calendars and documents.
  • Track attorney MCLE compliance firm wide using the Firm's MCLE software and maintain records to ensure attorneys remain in good standing.
  • Oversee assigned practice group meeting CLE logistics.
  • Prepare accreditation material to apply for accredited provider status and generate certificates of attendance for Hinshaw attorneys, clients, and alumni attending CLE programs in all relevant jurisdictions.
  • Assist with special projects relating to recruitment and professional development as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Two to four years professional attorney recruitment experience for summer associates, entry-level, and lateral associates.
  • A minimum of two years of attorney professional development and/or CLE experience.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with a high degree of responsibility.
  • Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to build rapport and trust with attorneys and staff.
  • Possess excellent analytical and creative problem solving skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines while handling multiple priorities; ability to work well under pressure and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Computer skills including knowledge of applicant tracking systems, viDesktop, and CLE tracking software; proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • A demonstrated ability and strong desire to work as part of a team in a demanding, collegial, client-centered legal services environment.
  • College degree in a relevant field of study required, Juris Doctor a plus
