Senior Manager, Diversity Equality and Inclusion

Location: Flexible and in any state where the firm has an office.

Position Summary: 
Reporting to the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Partner (DEIP), and the Director of Talent Development, the Senior Manager DEI develops, implements and monitors programs that promote diversity within the Firm. This role is responsible for developing creative and unique initiatives to foster an open and inclusive environment. The Senior Manager DEI will collaborate with talent development, marketing, and continuing legal education departments.

Essential Functions Include:
• Assist project management and coordination among firms' leadership on diversity and inclusion initiatives.
• Coordinate internal education and development of firm's diversity and inclusion programs with guidance from the DEIP.
• Coordinate efforts related to promoting Hinshaw's brand externally as it relates to diversity and inclusion, including coordination of information for annual reports, surveys, and client or community requests.
• Serve as liaison between recruiting and talent development to integrate diversity and inclusion, including on-boarding, talent development program. 
• Provide strategic advice and counsel to senior management on diversity-related issues, especially as they pertain to policy.
• Compile management reports for the DEIP in support of the organization's diversity business case and strategic direction.
• Provide consultation and technical support to the DEIP in the establishment of organizational diversity goals, objectives, and strategies, and develop and communicate plans to meet established goals.
• Monitor internal and external diversity trends and legal developments impacting policy and the recruitment and retention of attorneys.
• Develop and manage the department budget, in conjunction with the DEIP, and ensure expenditures are within established parameters, emphasizing cost efficiencies.
• Analyze and assist the marketing department in compilation of responses to diversity surveys, attorney satisfaction surveys, and other organizational culture audits, and prepare reports for the DEIP to inform decision making.
• Help build a shared vision of the ways we hope to grow as a firm around issues of diversity and equity, and will nurture relationships throughout the Firm to ensure understanding and support of this vision.
• Plan and coordinate efforts of various departments to execute internal diversity events.

Qualifications and Prior Experience:
• Bachelor's degree or a more advanced degree in related field
• Three to five years of experience required
• Experience leading and facilitating diversity and equity initiatives and projects
• Passionate about issues of equity and inclusivity
• Ability to inspire and motivate others to create positive change
• Experience working with younger and older attorneys
• Awareness of current trends and literature regarding diversity work
• Have passion and skill to contribute positively to a law firm environment that supports a respect for the community and the world in which we live
• Ability to work successfully with all constituents in the firm
• Understand organizational dynamics and be proficient at planning and organizing committee functions
