Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP, a leading national law firm, is seeking an Associate with at least 3-7 years of regulatory compliance experience for the Consumer Financial Services Regulatory & Compliance practice in our Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, or New Orleans offices.
The ideal candidate will have regulatory compliance counseling experience or investigation and enforcement experience, including demonstrated knowledge of consumer financial services laws such as the Truth in Lending Act (TILA), Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), Electronic Funds Transfer Act (EFTA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), and prohibitions on Unfair, Deceptive and Abusive Practices (UDAAP). Experience with states laws, such as laws relating to usury, installment loans, credit sales, and deferred deposits, is also helpful. Government experience from a federal or state consumer regulatory or enforcement agency is a plus.
Top quality work product, strong academics, a strong interest in participating in business development efforts, providing exceptional client service, and an ability to work effectively in a team are all required. The candidate must also have the ability to draft opinions, legal memoranda, and compliance advice in a clear and concise manner. Bar license in home state is required.
