Description

Our Los Angeles office is seeking a Health Care Paralegal who will perform a variety of duties including researching law, investigating facts, and preparing documents for attorneys according to established policies and procedures.

Essential Functions Include:

  • Continual review and management of case files;
  • Collect and organize responsive documents in connection with Payor Audit Appeals, PBM Audit Defense and State and Federal Governmental Agency Audits and Investigations;
  • Journal deadlines for responses and monitor for timeliness;
  • Prepare draft responses to audits;
  • Prepare merger, acquisition, divestiture and joint-venture agreements involving pharmacies, hospitals, clinics, skilled nursing and other health care facilities;
  • Prepare legal documents such as ownership/partnership/shareholder agreements, employment contracts, management service agreements and purchase and sale agreements for use by Attorneys;
  • Investigate facts to diagnose cause of problem and identify solutions.

Ideal candidate must have the following:

  • Knowledgeable with HIPAA and HITECH compliance and related federal and state data privacy and security requirement, DEA regulations;
  • 5-9 years of transactional law and health care defense experience;
  • Knowledgeable with government contracts and bid protests;
  • Experience with licensure, accreditation and certification;
  • Expertise in regulatory healthcare and corporate compliance including pharmacy regulations, compliance and licensure;
  • Experience with Medicare/Medicaid matters, including enrollment, reimbursements, audits and self-disclosure;
  • Knowledgeable with Health Care Fraud and Abuse, Stark Law and anti-kickback statues, False Claims Act and Ethics in Patient Referral Acts;
  • Civil or administrative litigation is a plus;
  • Must possess certified paralegal certificate or JD certification;
  • Experience with Summation, Excel, Word and PowerPoint;
