Litigation Clerk

Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP is a leading national law firm with over 20 offices in the United States. With approximately 500 lawyers and 1,000 personnel, we are a traditional, yet innovative and diverse Firm and our people are our highest priority.

Our New York office is looking for a Litigation Clerk to maintain the firm’s permanent litigation docket and calendar diary and assists with litigation docketing related work.


Essential Functions Include:

  • Completes all assigned docketing and calendaring work in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Reviews litigation documents for relevant dates and effectively uses the docketing and calendaring system to index court documents and enter applicable dates.
  • Collects, maintains and updates needed information on attorneys, such as bar admissions and e-filing passwords.
  • Contributes to knowledge management-related initiatives as they pertain to litigation case files, docketing, records management and other similar areas of function within the litigation practice group.
  • Assists with electronic case filing, as well as courthouse hard copy filings and document retrieval.
  • Assists with searching and extracting information from court-related databases, websites and relevant docketing and calendaring applications.
  • Complies with firm administrative procedures and policies.
  • Runs standard reports.
  • Other related responsibilities as needed.

Skills, Education, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Prior experience in a law firm is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Programs.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • Works well under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Must be able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
