Description
Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP, a leading national law firm, is seeking a Legal Secretary with at least five years of experience performing secretarial and administrative duties within a legal office/law firm environment.  The ideal candidate will have strong organizational and exceptional client services skills.

Summary of Position

Performs a variety of duties for one partner and one associate.  Business and real estate transaction, with some litigation, experience preferred.

Job Responsibilities

  • Typing and digital transcription of correspondence, pleadings and other documents;
  • Open new files, maintain all client and general files;
  • Assist with closing preparation for various types of transactions, including residential and commercial real estate, loan and corporate transactions;
  • Assist with the maintenance of corporate books, including the preparation of Annual Reports and Minutes;
  • Assist attorneys with time and expense entry and processing of monthly client invoices;
  • Maintain professional appearance and attitude; maintain good public relations with clients;
  • Other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of business and real estate transaction, with some litigation, experience preferred;
  •  Knowledge of complex commercial loan/closing documents, including mortgages, assignments, promissory notes, guarantees;
  • Knowledge of courts and E-Filing;
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail and excellent proofreading skills;
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing;
  • Requires typing speed of 65 words per minute;
  • Knowledge of and experience with relevant software/word processing applications, i.e., Carpe Diem (time entry), Excel, Word, PowerPoint, I-Manage
